Training is a long roll downhill toward the lowest loss. Sometimes a model finds one comfortable dip and decides that's the whole park.
The ape has skated the same little bowl for days and calls it the best spot in town. The deeper bowl next door has not been evaluated.
The Local Minimum Tee draws the loss curve as a skate park, with an ape who has stopped asking whether there is anything lower. The gradient is zero, and so is the curiosity.
For anyone who has ever called a plateau a personal best.
